5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, light and well suited for narrow compact video cameras., December 29, 2008

This review is from: Manfrotto 700RC2 Mini Video Head w/RC2 Rapid Connect Plate (Electronics)
I bought this at BIC camera in Fukuoka, Japan. I used this unit to complement the 3130 video head which I use for larger cameras. It is well-made and well-finished. The design is slightly different from the 701RC2 in that the 700RC2 uses a spring-lift, screw-type lever knob for locking the Quick Release plate as opposed to the spring-loaded lever-type lock on the 701RC2. (The 701RC2 also has a spirit level but in a rather awkward location that is hard to see.)

What do you get for the difference? The 700RC2 is slightly cheaper, slightly lighter and slightly more inconvenient when locking down the camera QR plate (which latches into place and is still released by a thumb lever). For my money, the lower price, lighter weight and tighter lock from the screw lever are better.

When screwed down there is no shifting of the QR plate (which sometimes happens with the lever-lock system if you frequently move and handle the camera/tripod together or if you don't give it an... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Seems flawless to me..., May 27, 2008

This review is from: Manfrotto 700RC2 Mini Video Head w/RC2 Rapid Connect Plate (Electronics)
I bought this head to use with my Sony HD Handycam and it seems flawless to me. The plate clamping screw does not interfere with the camera body because the thumb-screw wing can be very easily adjusted without tools. The action is fluid on every axis with absolutely no sticking or stuttering. The build is solid with not flimsy or substandard parts. I have 3 Manfrotto tripods and numerous heads. I would buy this product again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Below Bogen's standards! Get the 701RC2 instead!, January 31, 2007
By
JanSobieski (United States of America) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Manfrotto 700RC2 Mini Video Head w/RC2 Rapid Connect Plate (Electronics)
I accidentally purchased this video head instead of the 701RC2. Big boo-boo! This video head is not built to the ordinary standards of Bogen. It is flimsy by comparison to the 701RC2, not as smooth and does not have an adjustable sliding base plate. Worse, the rapid connect plate is not clamped in with a lever as you would ordinarily expect but requires the screwing down of a clamp which takes longer. Adding insult to injury, the lever screw is blocked by your camera when it is on the quick release plate interfering with the securing of the video camera.

This is, to say the least, a poorly thought out video head and the ONLY benefit it offers over the MUCH superior 701RC2 is this it is slightly lighter, but achieves this by sacrificing build quality and important features.

Unless you have held and operating this video head and know it is precisely what you want do not risk purchasing it. Purchase instead the far superior 701RC2.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Indoor Car... not outdoor, January 9, 2012
    By
    = Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: 1/24 4WD Short Course Truck RTR (Toy)
This is a great little truck. The 4wd is probably not necessary but is great in preventing getting stuck. My 4 year old is able to drive with little supervision.

    Pros:
    Small Enough for in House.
    Pretty fast
    Very durable.
Replacement and hop up parts available.
15 minutes of drive time on fully charged battery.
Battery is replaced on the bottom of the car, so requires no time or tools to switch a battery out.
Controller has adjustments to set the alignment, which is a necessity.

    Cons:
Gear in the rear Axle was knocked loose... easy to fix if you can figure out how to take apart and put back together. The car may have been dropped, could not get a straight answer from the 4 or 7 year old.
Turn Radius is not great... Probably due to 4wd. While driving you can pop from forward to reverse to forward and kick out the back to shorten the turn ratio on slick floors.
RC Controllers Metal expandable antenna looks fragile... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect basement racer, February 21, 2011

This review is from: 1/24 4WD Short Course Truck RTR (Toy)
This thing is really fun. I purchased it for my son's 5th birthday as something we can do together and to get him interested in the world of RC. I was an RC fanatic in my younger days but since so much has changed, I did a lot of research to find the right car. I was looking at 1/10th scale short course trucks at first thinking we could race it together at the local track but after a few practice runs with an old RC10T3 I quickly realized my 5 year old might be better served learning on something a little smaller and maybe a little slower. Besides a 1/10th scale car is no fun indoors. I'm glad I found this little truck. It's a little smaller than I had expected but it's not super micro. It's a great size for indoor and outdoor fun. The build quality on this truck is excellent. It's a true hobby grade product which means that hobby shops carry a full line of replacement parts and upgrades which is great for someone who's just learning to drive. Once you break a toy quality car it's... Read more

    Hello

I received one of these cars about a year ago, for my birthday. It is great. Very durable, and fast! It looks so real, and it is a great car for inside when it is raining and I can't drive on the dirt track near my house.

    Pros:
Very durable: Has hobby grade electronics, steel driveshafts, LCG tub chassis
Great handling: The oild filled big bore shocks and 4wd system allow you to put all the power to the ground. The shocks allow for great cornering, and the 4wd allows for some good powersliding on polished floors.
Soft rubber tires: the tires are soft compound rubber, like what would be used in larger scale rc racing. It affords huge amounts of grip on pavement, but still allows for some good old drifting fun on slippery surfaces
Suspension: It has threaded big bore shocks, with oil (my 1/10 racing SCT does even have this!). The oil in the shocks makes fore great handling. It is a serious improvement over the micro t friction shocks. The... Read more
